Privacy policy
Last updated 29 July 2026. Plain English, because that is how we would want to read it.
Who we are
Scope ("we", "us") is a lead-capture and quoting service for UK tradespeople, operated from the United Kingdom and available at tryscope.co.uk. For data protection questions, contact support@tryscope.co.uk.
The two kinds of people this policy covers
Members are tradespeople and agencies who create a Scope account. For member data, Scope is the data controller.
End customers are people who send an enquiry to a member through a Scope form, capture link, text message, phone call, or email. For end-customer data, the member is the controller and Scope processes that data on their instructions. If you contacted a tradesperson who uses Scope and want your data changed or deleted, contact that tradesperson first; we also honour requests sent directly to us.
What we collect
- Account data: name, email, business name, password hash, billing status. Lawful basis: performing our contract with you.
- Enquiry data: whatever an end customer submits to a member: name, phone, email, postcode, job description, photos, and message threads (including SMS). Processed under the member's instructions.
- Call and SMS data: if a member enables Call Catch, we log the caller's number and send an automated text so the member can follow up. Calls are not recorded.
- Gmail data: if a member connects Gmail, we read incoming lead emails to create leads in their inbox. Scope's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Gmail data for advertising, and we do not transfer it to third parties except to provide the feature.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We never see or store full card details.
- Usage data: standard server logs and privacy-friendly page analytics to keep the service working and secure. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
What we never do
- We never sell or resell leads. A member's leads are theirs alone.
- We never sell personal data to anyone.
- We never use end-customer data to market Scope.
Who helps us run Scope (subprocessors)
Data is hosted in the UK/EU where possible: Supabase (database and storage, AWS eu-west-2, London), Vercel (web hosting), Stripe (payments), Twilio (phone numbers and SMS), Upstash (rate limiting), Google (Gmail integration, only when connected), OpenAI (classifying enquiry emails so they file correctly; content only, no advertising use), and our transactional email providers. Where a provider processes data outside the UK, transfers rely on UK adequacy regulations or the applicable standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep things
Account data: for the life of the account and up to 12 months after closure, then deleted. Enquiry data: until the member deletes it or closes their account. Billing records: 6 years, as UK tax law requires. Members can export their data at any time from the dashboard or by emailing us.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for access, correction, deletion, portability, or restriction of your personal data, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email support@tryscope.co.ukand we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
We use essential cookies only: keeping you signed in and protecting forms. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will email members before it takes effect and update the date at the top.
